“Quickdraw Synchron” has recently seen a rise in play, going from “another one of Yusei’s themed cards” to a high utility monster which sees play on a few top tables at tournaments. So what is it that makes “Quickdraw Synchron” so good?

Firstly, “Quickdraw Synchron” is so easy to summon. All you have to do it discard another monster and you can drop it straight on the field without using up your normal summon for the turn. The discard cost is an advantage in itself; it opens up many combos. The most commonly used combo seen is using “Dandylion” to fuel the cost, and then using the tokens provided by “Dandylion” to make a Synchro.

This cards level also bodes well for it. It has a high level of 5, meaning that to make a Synchro with it, all you need is a tiny little “Treeborn Frog” or “Fluff Token”. These are very easy cards to get on the field, making Synchro summoning with “Quickdraw Synchron” a breeze.

Finally, this card is high utility. There is a wide variety of Synchros which can be made with this tuner, which can’t be made with certain others; the prime example being “Drill Warrior”. Drill Warrior is a powerful Synchro, compromised by the summoning restriction of being forced to use a sub-par Tuner. Using “Drill Warrior”, you can get small hits on your opponent each turn, even if they have a larger monster. Using the second effect, you can protect your “Drill Warrior” from harm whilst getting to send a monster to the grave (for example “Dandylion”) and obtaining a new monster when he returns. This allows you to recycle “Dandylions” and “Quickdraw Synchrons” for other uses.

Other useful Synchros which you can summon with “Quickdraw Synchron” include “Junk Archer”; which can be useful for getting something out of the way while you attack, “Nitro Warrior”; a large beatstick which is capable of dealing large amounts of damage each turn and “Turbo Warrior”; a card which can kill any Synchro besides “Blackwing Armor Master” in battle and is immune to the targeting effects of cards such as “Caius the Shadow Monarch”.

To conclude, we’ll be seeing a lot more or “Quickdraw Synchron” this format as his popularity is on the up.
